5 Simple Home Remedies for Migraines

When your head keeps pounding, you just wish for it and the pain to stop. Close your eyes, and use these 5 home remedies for migraines to ease it down for you.

Headaches are an extremely common form of chronic pain; according to the World Health Organization, almost half of the adult population has experienced at least one within the last year. Anyone who has felt on their skin the crippling effects of a migraine knows exactly how difficult driving, carrying a conversation or working can become. Ease the effects of pain by using this list of home remedies for headache! Many symptoms can be at least partially alleviated without medication; find out how:

Massage Your Temples with Peppermint Oil

Migraines are triggered by the release of an inflammatory substance around the nerves and blood vessels of the head. To improve the blood flow and make the area feel cool, try rubbing some peppermint oil in a circular motion around your temples. This should give you instant relief.

Watch What You Eat

What you put in your body might have a very direct effect on how it reacts physically. Even if you may not correlate it, coffee, alcohol and cigarettes could have a bad influence.

Regular meals are also important! Do no skip breakfast, and make sure that the sugar gets directly in your blood flow.

Relax, Meditate

Visualize a peaceful image, sit down, and meditate. Many people find that settling down and listening to some relaxing music is a great home remedy for headache. Try it out for yourself!

Warm Up Your Neck

Ease the tension in your neck by applying a hot cloth around it. Personally, I like to use a cherry stone pillow that I can place in the microwave for 30 seconds and then wrap around my shoulders. It spreads the heat at the base of the neck, and smells great as well!

Close Your Eyes and Rest

Minimize your stress. When the headache kicks in, it could be caused by stress. If you get a crippling migraine, don’t make it worst by by surrounding yourself with crowds or overworking. Avoid noisy environments, and take it easy for a while.
