“If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done”
– Bruce Lee
Are you the type of person that doesn’t get work done on time? Do people never trust you to respect deadlines? Are you usually late? If the answer to one or more of these questions is “yes”, then you should be checking out these 8 tips for better time management:
Block Out Distractions
Lets start by placing the right foot forwards. Stop distractions from ever happening by blocking them off completely: switch off all social media when you set out to work. No phone ringing, no Facebook browsing, no YouTube parties.
Tidy your Workplace
A tidy desk makes a tidy mind. Place everything where it should be, and when you use it, set it back into its place. Give your workplace a nice dusting once in a while.
Know Your Deadlines
…and try to set them even earlier! Don’t procrastinate and cram everything at the least possible minute: plan ahead of time and finish your work a couple of days before the set date. This will give you time to check everything out with a fresh mind.
Delegating Tasks
Create an organizing system if you are doing a group project, and learn how to delegate task with the people that are participating. It will take a load off your shoulders, and help you focus on a single, important task.
Stress Management
Stay calm in order to stay productive: consider adding some relaxing instrumental music in the background while you are working.
Stay Productive
Eliminate all time wasters and work sinkers. We’re talking about social media, especially all the bookmarks and quicklinks you have on your computer. Consider using a separate browser from the one you would normally use while off the job. The distractions won’t even be there to tempt you.
Keep a Fresh Mind
Leave a buffer in between all tasks. Once you are done with something important, set a 10 minute timer during which you reward yourself by doing whatever you want!
Prioritize
Break big projects into smaller, more accessible tasks. Complete the most important ones first, and move over to the smaller ones once you have tackled the ones with the highest priority.
