Halloween snack ideas: Candy Corn Rice Krispie Trick or Treat

Halloween parties and scary masks everywhere tonight? Are you ready? Here’s a delicious last minute Halloween recipe for your Halloween Party!

Recipe adapted from Martha Stewart and Glorious Treats

ACTIVE TIME: 30 minutes
TOTAL TIME: 2 hours 30 minutes

2 sticks butter, 2 10-oz bags mini marshmallows, 3/4 tsp. salt (table salt is fine here, kosher will work too), 2-3 lemons, yellow food coloring. 1 12-oz. box Rice Krispie cereal, 2 oranges, red food coloring

Grease two 8” cake pans and two spatulas with butter and set aside.

In a large casserole, start to make the yellow layer: Melt 3 tablespoons unsalted butter over medium heat. Add 5 cups miniature marshmallows and 1/4 teaspoon fine salt; stir until is all melted. Stir in lemon zest and yellow food coloring. Place 4 1/2 cups Rice Krispies in a bowl, then add marshmallow mixture and stir quickly with the spatula until compound is fully incorporated.

Divide yellow Rice Krispie mixure between the two cake pans, and use your hands to create a “ring” around the inside edge of the cake pan, about 1 1/2” wide. Rub a bit of butter on your hands as necessary to prevent the mixture from sticking to your hands. Work quickly, as the mixture becomes difficult to manipulate when it cools.

Repeat the same process with the ingredients for the orange ring, using the orange zest and 2 drops yellow food coloring mixed with 2 drops red food coloring to create the orange color. After that you can prepare the white center without any food colouring.

Let set 2 hours. Run a small knife around edges of pan and invert loaf onto a cutting board. Then serve it to your guests! It’s delicious!

→ Yummi Halloween snack ideas: if you don’t want the white center, you can use some chocolate and add it to the mixture. Chocolate is perfect with citrus, even in a Halloween recipe.

A special thank to Pinterest and for the great idea!
