How To Fight Stress: 8 Simple Ways of Handling Anxiety

Want to finally defeat stress? With these hot days stress can be a hardย challenge to overcome, that’s why you need a little help, in this case 8 simple ways of dealing with stress and fighting the anxiety in your lives.

If your days are too busy for you to use meditation or yoga as a way of handling stress, there are many other minor methods you can adopt that take much less time. For some of us whose personal life is so filled that even 1 hour a day cannot be set aside in order to relax, these small tips may be of great use. Try them out, and let me know if they work for you!

Take 5 Long Breaths In

Breathe deeply, then slowly exhale deeply for at least five times. Try listening to your heartbeat while you do this, and focus on that only. Let the oxygen flow through your brain, and aim for progressive relaxation in just a few breaths.

Let loose, and start dancing while you work. While at home or with your friends, or even at the office if you know your co-workers well enough: start dancing and let all the tense energy you had inside go loose.

Take A Break from Work

When you feel like you had enough, get up from your working station and walk around. Removing yourself from the area that is causing stress will give you great benefits and will help you handling anxiety.

Perfumes can influence you in so many different ways. Some fragrances are said to effectively be helpful with dealing with stress symptoms. Could it be because the area of our brain that handles emotions is right next to the one that processes smell?
Try testing this theory by adding a scent to your room and seeing how it affects you. My favorites are lavender and peppermint.

Hug Someone

Hugging someone releases dopamine in your bloodstream; that is the feel good hormone that lowers the levels of cortisol (the stress hormone) in your body. Just a hug can help you handling anxiety and stress within a minute!

Chew Some Gum

Chewing gum is an excellent way of dealing with stress, especially if you are sitting in a small confined place such as an office for many hours. It provides for a small physical exercise that can help your brain release stress and achieve progressive relaxation.

If you are not a big chewing gum fan, try with a mint or a sweet.

Try Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Progressive muscle relaxation is a very easy technique. It consists in tensing momentarily the muscles in a certain part of your body, and then releasing the tension. You can start from your feet, move to your legs and all across your body.

Imagine a Relaxing Place

Remember that time on the beach, the sun shining, the waves crashing? Try imagining that place once again, and re-live the moment in your mind. Create a situation in which you are completely relaxed; here is some relaxing sounds of nature music to aid you in your feat.

I hope you enjoyed these tips on how to fight stress in just a few minutes a day. Remember: an anxious state of mind can easily be flipped upside down. Just believe in the power of what you are doing!
