Being happy is a somewhat subjective concept, in that means something different to every individual. What makes one person feel good might not make another and our ideas of what will give our lives meaning and fulfilment varies so vastly that it is near impossible to pinpoint a formula for happiness.
With that said, if you want to lead a happy life and learn how to be content it is certainly no bad thing to aim to accomplish this. Here are some achievable ways to be try to be happy that might change your life for the better.
Don’t Chase Happiness – It sounds counter-productive, but actually if you spend your life chasing the elusive ‘happiness’ rather than just getting things done and trying things out you’re doing yourself a disfavour in the long run. Don’t look at happiness as being your end goal, just do what feels right in this moment. Do things without expecting to find happiness and you will be far more content in life.

Don’t Personify Happiness – Don’t make happiness a person, place or thing. If you want to know how to become happy, look within yourself. If you equate having a happy life with these kind of things you will never be satisfied as these are things we cannot truly control. The only thing you can gain real control over in life is your own mind – put yourself into a positive mindset and you will soon learn how to find happiness in life.
Follow Your Passions – For many people, meaning and joy is found through pursuing the things that interest them. If you already had all the money in the world and you no longer needed to work to make a living, what would you spend your days doing? Not for money, not for other people but for you? If you can figure out the answer to this question than make time for this to happen, you will soon discover what it is like to be content.
Work Towards A Goal – One of the best ways to become happy is to stay focused on a particular objective. This can be work or personal related but whatever it is, make a plan and start making it happen. Oftentimes when we become down or depressed it is because we have lost our way in life. We don’t know who we are anymore and we don’t know why we are bothering to do anything at all. This apathy can be remedied by bringing a spark back into your life, having something in the future that keeps you going, that makes getting out of bed in the morning easy. Give your life some direction and happiness will soon follow.
