Some of us are natural morning people, we just jump out of bed in the morning, fresh to start the day. However if you, like I, need some help getting out of bed, grumbling our way through the morning, cherishing that first cup of coffee, it may seem impossible to view the morning as a positive thing. But it can be! I’ve found 7 positive ways to start the day to improve my morning, which in turn, makes the rest of day a little lighter. I find myself coming into work with a smile on my face, a spring in my step and a clear mind to kickstart the morning.
The following list doesn’t include any intense activities or tasks, or intense by anti-morning people’s standards, it’s just a few simple acts which involve very little to no effort. Hence why I’m such a fan!
7. Have Everything Ready For The Morning, The Night Before
There are many best ways to start the day, but before the day even starts it’s so good to have everything ready for the morning. An hour before bed sort out your outfit, make your lunch, sort out what you need to bring with you to college or work, and shower before bed! That way when you wake up in the morning you only have to eat breakfast and brush your teeth.
6. Read Positive Affirmations To Yourself
I recommend doing this after you’ve woken up a little. I like reciting healing and positive affirmations to myself as I put on my make-up, this is my time to build up my positive outset for the day. However, a lot of people do it the moment they wake up or internally on their commute.
You don’t have to do it for long, just a few minutes a morning. It’s normal to feel a bit silly at first, but once you start noticing how much positive you feel you’ll start telling others to do it.
5. Set An Uplifting Alarm Ringtone
I used to hate my alarm ringtone. It was the bane of my day before my day even started. Also, it didn’t help getting out of bed either. In spite of my rude alarm clock, disturbing my rest, I would press snooze until eventually I was really late. Not the best way to start the day.
What I’ve done since is set my alarm tone to soothing music which wakes me up gradually, instead of being woken up abruptly and rebelling in such a form which wasn’t beneficial. Also you can change your alarm ringtone to a song that either makes you laugh or makes you dance. You’ll wake up with a smile instead of cursing your alarm clock.
4. Eat A Good Healthy Breakfast
Eating a good healthy breakfast can be overly advertised, everywhere says start the day right! But it seems most recipes involve a lot of prep and cooking time, with fresh vegetables you’ve never even heard of. Some of us can barely open our eyes in the morning, let alone cook anything.
Thankfully ladies and gentlemen it’s as easy as switching your sugar-filled cereal to porridge, or pop tarts to wholegrain toast. It’s not hard to be creative either, throw a banana in your porridge or some marmalade on your toast. You’ll notice how much more energy you’ll have and how less hungry you’ll be by lunch!
3. Try Some Morning Meditation
Morning meditation is awesome. It’s one of the best ways to start the day: I find it completely clears your mind, improves your focus and just uplifts your mood. It doesn’t involve much effort either, in fact it involves barely any effort. You don’t even have to set aside that much time for it, just 5 minutes of listening to your breathing has you feeling way more aware.
How do I do it? Well don’t do it the moment you wake up, because you know, you’ll probably just fall back asleep. Do it after you breakfast when you’re more alert and less likely to fall back asleep. You do morning meditation just about anywhere, from your bed, your kitchen stool, even on the commute!
2. Turn On Some Feel Good Music
Sticking on some feel good music in morning is a great way to start the day. I find myself enjoying the morning much more when my favourite songs are playing in the background. Throwing together a feel good playlist, whether it be Katy Perry or Red Hot Chilli Peppers, puts me in such a good mood.
If you find music a bit too heavy for your liking, why not put on some relaxing vibes to help you get through the morning?A mellow soundtrack for your morning is perfect if you haven’t slept particularly well. It isn’t heavy on your head and you can float through your morning routine.
1. Do Something That Makes You Feel Good About Yourself
Each morning do a little something that makes you feel good about yourself. This can be anything, it’s up to you! Wear perfume, wear an outfit that makes you feel good, cuddle your dog, anything.
There you have it guy, 7 positive ways to start the day! I do hope this helps you make the morning more enjoyable, and overall makes your day much brighter! Remember there is no best way to start the day, there are many littles ways that can help getting out of bed. From feel good music, eating a good healthy breakfast to morning meditation!
