11. Give Yourself The Permission To Do The Unconventional
It’s good to have a routine, however don’t be afraid to switch it up sometimes! Perhaps you always wanted to take up yoga but didn’t know where to start or you’ve always wanted to get back into an old hobby, like samba dancing or wind surfing. Even something as small as changing your lunch order can help you break the daily dredge! Mixing it up once in a while will help you open your mind a bit more and can take away the more mundane tasks of life.
10. Take The Compliment
“What? Oh this old thing? I got it years ago.”. Stop right there! It’s time to say thank you, accept the compliment given to you. Learn to say thank you. Think about it. Embrace that internal smile. Learning to take a compliment may seem like a minor thing to change your attitude, but being positive and learning to love yourself is one of the keys to happiness!
9. Take the Long-Way Home
Like so many of us after a long day’s work, you just want to get home ASAP! But honestly try taking a little walk after work. Whether it be to the bus stop that’s just a little further away or even walk home if possible! Taking a walk after work will boost your endorphins, help you clear your mind and get some fresh air into those lungs!
Doesn’t sound to shabby already eh? It also gives you that space to really take in your surroundings, perhaps you’ll see a coffee shop you’ve never noticed or discover other quirky oddities you would have never seen before!
8. Compliment Others
Try compliment three people everyday. A peculiar exercise I know, but noticing the good things about people not only helps you see the good in people but makes people feel good too! It’s great to make others feel good!
This will not only help you be a happier person but help others too!
7. Don’t Forget to Floss!
The dentist keeping doesn’t keep telling you to floss for no reason; the point being that it’s important to do the little things to look after ourselves. Your body is a great place to start. By moisturising daily, eating better food and doing a little more than the basics to take of yourself you’ll feel a little boost in your step.
And it’s not just about appearance, feeling good on the inside is just as important then feeling good on the outside too! It’s important to always look after yourself as you’re confidence will feel the boost too! And will help you feel more deserving of those compliments you may have rejected previously.
6. Accomplish One Thing A Day
Setting yourself realistic goals is a significant key to happiness. We may think we are capable of more, but constantly pushing ourselves can lead to mental strain, exhaustion and a higher amount of stress. You don’t have to keeping pushing yourself. It’s ok to say to yourself “I won’t be able to do that.”.
By setting and achieving realistic deadlines and goals it you will not more reliable look to other people, but it will help you too! You’ll notice how less stressed you are, and it will help you organize your time appropriately!
5. Look For The Positive
In everything! When you surround yourself with negative thoughts naturally the results mean that you will have a negative mindset. Although this can be a difficult habit to break, think to yourself: “Would I rather be a happy, positive person or a unhappy, negative person?
The chances are you do want to be a happier person. So the next time you’re having a bad day, find the good in your life. Whether that be the love you have for your dog, the good friends you have in your life, even the nice hot shower you had this morning.
4. Allow Yourself Some Time Off
Give your body, soul and mind a break. Life can be chaotic, that’s a given. So take some time to breathe. This is the beauty of meditating. A lot of people think meditating is for hippies or monks, the truth is it’s for everyone! It has actually scientifically proven to be good for you.
Don’t knock it until you try it! Meditating helps you mind relax, let go of all your thoughts and focus on your breathing. You can do it just about anywhere and for any length of time!
3. Sleep Well
Catching a minimum of six hours a sleep a night will have a huge impact of your mood! Sleep is key to happiness. Not just for your body, but for your mind too. I know it’s hard switching off that Netflix series, or those racing thoughts, but it’s so important for you!
Getting a good night’s sleep will help you be a happier person: it will help your focus, boost your mood, make the mornings easier and give you more energy during the day! So make sure you start by getting to bed early!
2. Get Out Of The House
Walking the dog doesn’t have to be a chore; getting outdoors actually helps boost your happiness! Taking in the fresh air and stretching those legs helps you relax, become more focused and does wonders for your health. Make this apart of your habit and reap in the side effects! You’ll notice a boost in your mood, an ease in your shoulder and a more relaxed you!
1. Forgive Yourself
We all make mistakes, we are humans, it happens. Others may forgive you, but you need to forgive you. When you’re feeling down it’s easy take any tinsy-tiny mistake as another one of your downfalls. It is important take responsibilities for your mistakes, however, you need to begin embracing them.
