The space that surrounds you when you decide to meditate is vital for your concentration. For example, if you decide to start your meditation in the middle of a room full of people, it’s not so easy to find that piece of concentration you need for a successful session. That’s why we can give you some tips on how to create your personal meditation space at home, to practice your mindfulness in complete peace.
Your room needs to be free from useless stuff. If you practice meditation in your bedroom or in your living room and these are full of fornitures, pictures, books, maybe toys and so on, it’s hard to find that kind of peace you need to feel calm and serene, so you can always create a little space, free from all this stuff that allows you to meditate without distractions. Feng Shui could be a solution: a new position for your forniture in the room helps you create more spacious areas.
The closer you can be to nature, the better. Nature helps you reach your inner self, together with nature sounds which allow you to relax.
Warm colours like yellow or orange are soothing for your mind, white and grey make you feel free from negative thoughts, creating a neutral space, while blue or green give you peace and strength.
Let the light enter your meditation space: natural sunlight is the best during the day and for your evening meditations choose to light some candles all around.
You have to feel comfortable when you meditate, so instead of sitting on a chair, fill the ground with cushions and mats. But remember that semplicity is best.
How about some aromas all around? With your eyes closed, you develop the other senses, chosing from a variety of fragrances. Whether it is aromatic incense sticks or essence oils, the choice is yours. To complete your meditation space you can play some music to help you relax and get in the mood for your practice.
