“You don’t always need a plan. Sometimes you just need to breathe. Trust. Let go and see what happens.”
The first step if you’re an anxious person and you really need and want to relax is to breathe. When you see the situation’s going out of your control, stop for a second, take a deep breath and release the air you’re breathing and with it, your worries, too.
Breathing is the first source of energy in our body and a fundamental act in our life. People who suffer from anxiety and stress have an irregular and superficial breathing; on the other hand people that remain calm have a regular and deep breathing pattern. That’s why breathing in a correct way is important. As our physical and mental state influences our breathing, so our breathing can influence our mind, our emotions and our heart.
When we are under pressure, we usually feel tired, lazy, stressed. When we overreact to something, it means our body and our mind need oxygen, which allow our brain to work more clearly.
As we said, breathing is normal and involuntary for us, so paying attention on how you breathe is not easy. Maybe you can do it for you, for 5 minutes a day, sitting comfortable somewhere in your house, closing your eyes and controlling every breath you’re taking. In the end you’ll feel better, ready to face every kind of situation.
5 minutes is enough to calm down, especially if you’re helped by some relaxing and soothing music for breathing exercises.
