Before Sleep

Try this simple method. Before going to bed, think about one of your goals. Maybe you’re struggling with a work project, or you don’t get someone’s intentions. Ask yourself several questions about that issue. Make some “requests” – in Edison’s words. Write down those questions and try to be as specific as you can. While you’re sleeping, your subconscious will be working on them.


After Waking Up

Scientists found out that the conscious part of your brain is at its best immediately following sleep. Rather than picking up your phone and looking for notifications that overwhelm your brain, go back to your list of questions. Write down whatever comes to mind. What you’re striving to do is mixing up and combining the efforts of your conscious and unconscious mind. Your unconscious is making new, surprising connections that you’re now ready to pick up.
