Why Are People Meditating More? (NEW STUDY!!)

Doctors, teachers and brands are helping bring yoga and meditation mainstream: while companies offer some subscriptions to their employees, schools introduce yoga and meditation classrooms. According to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics, people are practicing meditation and yoga more, worldwide.

In the last ten years the number of adults and children practicing meditation has increased and it is not hard to understand why. People are looking for ways to de-stress and to take off from their busy life. For the research, researchers looked at 26 studies published between 1985 and 2017 which examined how yoga and tai chi moderated key stroke risk factors, including blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, atrial fibrillation, smoking and alcohol consumption, obesity, anxiety and depression.

Nowadays, adults and children are practicing meditation more than in any other era: more Americans of all ages are rolling out their yoga mats and meditating. A large nationally representative survey shows that the number of American adults and children using yoga and meditation has significantly increased over previous years. Why is this happening?

Many people think that practicing meditation is a way to reduce stress and develop concentration, but the art of meditation also increases awareness of yourself and your surroundings. People also use the practice to develop other beneficial habits and feelings, such as a positive mood and outlook, self-discipline, healthy sleep patterns and even increased pain tolerance.

Here you can find some health benefits of meditation:

Increased Happiness

Nothing MAKES you happy, you ARE. Doesn’t matter what happens around you, happiness depends on the way your brain processes whatever is going on in your life. Art of meditation could help you to find joy in things you used to love.

Improved Health

Practicing meditation and yoga brings many benefits for both your mental and physical health: your body begins to respond and you naturally feel less anxious, less pressured or stressed. In addition to improving your mental health, some studies suggest that practicing yoga may reduce inflammation as well as help improve heart health, reducing several risk factors for heart disease

More Harmonious Relationships

Meditating more helps you recognize your own emotions and those of others, you’ll more easily experience lasting harmony in your relationships. From your partner to your colleagues: practicing meditation will make you a better person!

Spiritual Awakening

Meditation can help you accept yourself as you are. Heart meditations allow you become aware at a deeper level, helping you reject parts of yourself that you find unacceptable. Through awareness and acceptance, these rejected parts can be accepted and integrated, allowing you to become more unified.

Meditation is a habitual process of training your mind to focus and redirect your thoughts. People play art of meditation for different reasons: to feel calm, to reduce stress and pain, to get through a crisis or to engage in a spiritual practice. While practicing meditation, we may feel more alert and resourceful in our daily lives.

So… If you don’t meditate, start right now!
