Starting your day off on the right foot gives you every chance of having a great morning and a more successful and productive day. Your everyday routine should be highly organised so that you have everything ready to go and don’t need to waste precious time doing things that could have been pre-planned and pre-prepared. Here are 5 ways to make your morning a lot easier and your morning routine a lot smoother!

1. Positive Affirmations & Morning Meditation

Begin your day by taking a few minutes to reflect and collect your thoughts. It’s amazing what a difference it makes to your whole day when you take the time at the start of it to just breathe and relax. If you wake up feeling frantic and stressed you will carry that with you so try to avoid those panicked mornings and stay calm and relaxed instead. Repeat some positive affirmations over and over to emphasise how good you feel about the day and how ready you are to accomplish great things.

2. Prepare Your Breakfast The Night Before

Whatever you enjoy eating in the morning, make sure to have it ready to go first thing so you can just grab it and go without being forced to skip it if you’re running late. If you plan your breakfasts you are much more likely to make healthier choices so keep a decent supply of fruit and nutritious cereals in the house and you won’t be tempted by an unhealthy snack on the way to work (unless it’s Friday, then you can treat yourself!).

3. Drink Lemon Water First Thing

Lemon water has many, many benefits so squeeze some fresh lemon into water and drink it in the morning to take advantage of this simple, but very healthy drink. If you are not a fan of lemons, drinking water alone is also good to include as part of your morning routine as your body needs to be rehydrated after a long night’s sleep and it will jumpstart your metabolism.

4. Listen To The Radio

If you find waking up difficult, sometimes listening to overly cheerful radio presenters can perk you up a bit and it doesn’t require exerting any extra energy yourself. Set your alarm to wake you up with the radio and the music or chat will activate your mind and make getting out of bed that little bit easier. Listening to music as you get ready is also great to get you going for the day and helps things move a little faster in the mornings.

5. Get Some Exercise In

It might not be practical to expect you to have a full blown exercise session as part of your everyday morning routine, but if you can get a small bit of exercise in it’s better than nothing. If you commute to work by bus or car but have the option to walk, take the walking option. If you don’t have that option, just go for a two minute walk outside before you go into your office or wherever you work. It will stimulate the mind and waken you up a bit before you sit down at your desk and start to fall asleep (then it’s coffee time).
