Halloween is just around the corner and that means costumes, pumpkin carvings and, of course, parties galore! If you want to throw your own halloween party this year, here is a quick guide to everything you need to make your night ‘frightfully’ good.
Halloween Party Themes
If you want to make the night extra special, having a theme in place will give the party some direction and focus. It can also help to dictate the types of costumes people might wear, or the food you will serve, helping to narrow down your options down a bit! You could give guests two classic costume ideas to choose from (for example; angels and devils, werewolves and vampires, witches and warlocks etc.), pick a specific era that people have to base their attire on, or you could go all out and host a murder mystery night.
You want things to be as creepy as possible, so keep lighting very soft and dim. Scatter candles throughout the room, and, if possible, use vintage or antique looking candelabras to give the appearance and feel of an old, haunted castle. Don’t forget to carve a few pumpkins before the party and put a tea-light in each one for added atmosphere and spook factor.
Quick tip – If you don’t have many, or any, candle holders, use empty wine bottles or jars as makeshift ones!
No halloween party is complete without lots of decorations. They can really make or break the party so make sure to put some effort into the appearance of the house and people will be talking about the party for years to come. You will find thousands of amazing ideas online for how to turn your home into a thoroughly terrifying abode and many of them are things you can easily make yourself with very little time or money involved.
Halloween Party Music
Music plays a crucial part in any successful Halloween party so make sure to have a great playlist prepared with all the classic Halloween tracks along with spooky sound affects to add some drama. You will find lots of Halloween playlists on Spotify that have already done a lot of the work for you, but making your own ensures you have all your favourite halloween picks in one. Here’s an example of one to get you started!
