Naked Meditation; How To Perform A Meditation Without Clothes

Meditation is all about delving within and growing a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us. It requires a complete stripping back of outside influences and the chaos around us, and a desire to embrace a peace and stillness that can only be found when we reconnect with nature and our inner being. One of the simplest ways to cultivate the mindset of a naturist is to become one, and to become one you simply need to lose all outerwear! It might seem strange at first, but once you try this type of meditation you will never look back. Here’s how to perform a meditation without clothes.

Find A Private Space

Obviously with naked meditation you want to find a secure and private space where you are not going to be disturbed. We don’t recommend doing this outside unless you live in a very secluded area! Make sure the temperature is to your liking as you are obviously going to feel colder without anything on your body. If you can, sit directly on the ground or floor without any kind of mat or cushion in between, this allows your body to fully connect with the earth and become grounded.

Strip Down

It’s not a proper naked meditation if you are fully clothed, but if you are feeling modest or are worried about being interrupted you can choose to wear something moderately covering or perform the naked meditation in your mind. To do this, simply close your eyes and imagine your body in your mind, free of any clothing, and recognise what every bit looks like when it is completely free and uncovered.

Clear Your Mind

Just as you have cleared your body of clothing (even if only mentally) you must now do the same with your mind and clear it of any thoughts. If you struggle to do this, don’t worry, you don’t need to stop thinking altogether, but rather be aware of your thoughts as a separate entity and observe them as an outsider. Remove yourself from what is going on inside your head as best as you can.

Breathe & Connect

Breathe in deeply, taking notice of your body’s movement as you do so. Imagine your lungs filling up with air and oxygen travelling to every cell and being transported to every part of your body. Connect with yourself on a higher level, and work towards developing an open and honest relationship with yourself. Appreciate your entire being, letting go of any doubts or insecurities you have and replacing them with positive thoughts. This is a wonderful opportunity to free yourself from the materialistic, shallow aspect of the world and transcend to a higher place where you have a better understanding of everything around you.
